The Whyalla Foreshore and Marina is a valued and much-visited location, used by residents and visitors alike.  The Foreshore has undergone extensive redevelopment since the adoption of a comprehensive masterplan in 2006.  Major stages of works have been undertaken including the central activity spine comprising a feature promenade, beach entries and initial boardwalk (2009), upgrade to the Café / Foreshore building, a redesigned car park and boardwalk extension including reconstructed seawall (2012/13), and reworking of landscaping, beach sand replenishment and enhancement of perimeter roadways and beach access.

Building on this work, Council engaged consultants to investigate development options and prepare a masterplan for the Whyalla Marina and Beach Road areas.

Council has endorsed an ambitious masterplan for the Marina Precinct, achievable in the right economic climate.  It involves a staged approach which visions residential development, commercial and community development, and public spaces.

Council is keen to share the masterplan with the community. In the latter half of 2017 public consultation will be undertaken specifically on the Marina elements of the masterplan.  Council is seeking feedback and comment to inform and guide it in its determination on future development in the Marina.
